The point to examine

Define the cost and the alternative you are comparing it with. Our simple worksheet uses the monthly income difference you enter, less any extra ongoing cost, over your chosen horizon. It then subtracts the education cost. It does not predict employment, salaries, loan costs, inflation or the value of non-financial learning.

Questions to take forward

  • What is my comparison baseline?
  • Which costs and income assumptions are uncertain?
  • Does the scenario still work if the benefit is smaller or delayed?
03

Evidence before a decision

Keep the source, date, scope and your actual question together. Confirm provider, employer and issuing-body terms with their responsible source. Separate your own estimates from documented facts and do not treat an empty answer as proof.
