A document may record participation, completion or an assessed achievement. Check the issuer, scope, assessment basis and verification route. Ask separately what someone can demonstrate in the workplace. Do not dismiss all qualifications or treat every certificate as equivalent evidence of competence.

02

Questions to take forward

  • Who issued the document?
  • What was actually assessed?
  • How can the claim be checked?
03

Evidence before a decision

Keep the source, date, scope and your actual question together. Confirm provider, employer and issuing-body terms with their responsible source. Separate your own estimates from documented facts and do not treat an empty answer as proof.
